Advanced Power Control for Automated Test Systems
Efficient control of power supply to test equipment is a critical factor, especially in environments with a high diversity of devices and test configurations across successive production batches. Selectively powering only the instruments required for a given test offers multiple advantages: it extends the operational life of the equipment, significantly reduces energy consumption and helps maintain optimal thermal conditions within the instrument rack.
Smart sequential startup
To address the challenges associated with high inrush currents during simultaneous startup of multiple devices, the Power Distribution Unit (PDU) by 6TL incorporates an intelligent power sequencing feature. In the event of a mains power interruption, the PDU automatically restores power in a staggered sequence once supply is re-established. This prevents inrush currents from overlapping, thereby protecting both the instruments and the electrical infrastructure.
Thermal stabilization
Another critical aspect in achieving consistent and repeatable test results is thermal stabilization. Many electronic instruments, particularly those with analog circuitry, require a defined warm-up period to reach a stable operating temperature. This condition is usually specified by the manufacturer and is essential for the accuracy and reliability of measurements.
To ensure this requirement is met, the 7300.08 PDU series includes a programmable preheating function. By scheduling the production start time in advance, the system can power up selected instruments ahead of the actual testing phase. This guarantees that the first units tested under automatic procedures yield results that are fully comparable to those measured later in the production cycle, maintaining quality assurance from start to finish.
Efficient compact design
Designed specifically for integration in automated test environments, the 7300.08 PDUs are housed in a compact 1U 19-inch rackmount format, maximizing rack space efficiency. They are delivered with internationally standardized plugs to ensure compatibility with the power standards of most countries, facilitating global deployment.
