Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) is ultimately responsible for the functional assurance of electronic products (EOL). Even using the best quality products and the best wiring practice, some components of automatic test systems have finite life (test leads, connectors, relay contacts, etc.).
This seminar describes the techniques and tools necessary for the implementation of automatic testing in ATE systems. They are the best early diagnosis tool, which ensures the reliability of the results of the tests carried out.
Starting from the vision of the most common structure of an ATE, its weak points will be analyzed. The technical means for periodic functionality validation will also be studied. Recommendations are considered in the design of the ATE system to conduct an automatic diagnosis and the possibilities and limitations of the Self Test Fixtures.
